Reporter on live remote shoot just wants to go home
by Robert Doyle
HOUSTON - Local CBS affiliate news reporter Terry Lee Kratch is sick and tired of waiting at the airport for her live remote at 11 o'clock and "just wants to go home".
Kratch was dispatched to the airport at 5pm to cover the possible strike of United Airlines mechanics. Despite shooting her story, getting the proper sound bites and editing the whole piece in the news van by 9:13pm. Kratch and her small crew must wait at the airport until 11:08pm, when she can introduce the piece with a nine second introduction that could easily be done in the studio with out anyone in the Houston metropolitan area giving a damn.
"I could even have shot the intro here at the friggin' airport once the sun set and we could have pretended to be live, I mean who gives a rat's ass!" said a frazzled Kratch.
Bad news for Kratch, as tomorrow she will have to travel all the way to Austin to cover a chili cooking contest and report live long after the last bean has been ingested.
